A two-day tour from Hurghada to Cairo and Alexandria is a great way to explore two of Egypt’s most iconic cities in a short amount of time. Here’s a suggested itinerary for your tour, along with what’s included and excluded
Your tour will begin with an early morning pick-up from your hotel in Hurghada. From there, you'll travel to Cairo, which is approximately a 5-hour drive from Hurghada. Upon arrival in Cairo, you'll begin your tour by visiting the Giza Pyramids, one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. You'll have the opportunity to explore the Great Pyramid of Khufu, the Pyramid of Khafre, and the Pyramid of Menkaure, as well as the Great Sphinx of Giza. You can even opt to take a camel ride around the pyramids for an extra fee. After visiting the pyramids, you'll stop for lunch at a local restaurant before continuing your tour with a visit to the Egyptian Museum. Here, you'll see an incredible collection of ancient Egyptian artifacts, including the treasures of King Tutankhamun. Your day in Cairo will conclude with a visit to Khan el-Khalili, a historic market that's been in operation since the 14th century. Here, you can browse the many stalls selling everything from souvenirs to spices to jewelry. In the evening, you'll transfer to your hotel in Cairo for an overnight stay
On the second day of your tour, you'll depart Cairo and head to Alexandria, which is approximately a 2.5-hour drive away. Upon arrival, you'll visit the famous Library of Alexandria, which is one of the largest and most impressive libraries in the world. You'll also see the modernist Bibliotheca Alexandrina, which was built in the early 2000s to replace the original library that was destroyed in antiquity. After visiting the library, you'll stop for lunch at a local restaurant before continuing your tour with a visit to the Citadel of Qaitbay, a medieval fortress that was built in the 15th century. From there, you'll visit the Roman Amphitheatre, which dates back to the 4th century AD and was once used for gladiatorial contests and other performances. Finally, your tour will conclude with a visit to the stunning Montazah Palace, a sprawling complex of gardens and palaces that was built in the early 20th century. Here, you can take a leisurely stroll through the gardens and admire the beautiful architecture of the palaces. After your tour of Alexandria, you'll transfer back to Hurghada, arriving in the late evening
