Cairo is a must-see destination for anyone visiting Egypt, and a tour from Hurghada is an excellent way to experience the country’s capital. Here’s a two-day itinerary for a Cairo tour from Hurghada, including what’s included and excluded in the package
Your tour will begin with an early morning pick-up from your hotel in Hurghada, followed by a long drive to Cairo. The journey will take around six hours, during which you can relax and enjoy the views of the desert landscapes and rural life in Egypt. Once you arrive in Cairo, your first stop will be at the iconic Giza Pyramids. You'll have a chance to see the three pyramids - Khufu, Khafre, and Menkaure - and the Great Sphinx up close. Your guide will share fascinating stories about the pyramids' history and architecture, including how they were built and the theories behind their purpose. Next, you'll visit the Egyptian Museum, which is home to over 120,000 artifacts from ancient Egypt. You'll see priceless treasures such as the golden mask of Tutankhamun, mummies, and hieroglyphics. The museum also includes a section dedicated to the ancient civilization of the Nile Valley, including Pharaonic, Coptic, and Islamic artifacts. After the museum, you'll head to a local restaurant for lunch, where you can sample traditional Egyptian cuisine. In the afternoon, you'll visit the Khan El Khalili bazaar, one of Cairo's most vibrant markets. Here you can shop for souvenirs, spices, jewelry, and other unique items. It's a perfect place to practice your bargaining skills and immerse yourself in the local culture. After a full day of sightseeing, you'll check in to your hotel in Cairo, where you'll spend the night
After breakfast at your hotel, you'll check out and start your second day of the tour. Your first stop will be at the Salah El Din Citadel, a medieval Islamic fortification that dominates the Cairo skyline. The Citadel was built by Salah El Din in the 12th century to protect Cairo from invading armies. You'll visit the Mosque of Muhammad Ali, one of the most impressive mosques in Egypt, and enjoy stunning views of the city from the Citadel's walls. Next, you'll visit Coptic Cairo, an ancient area of the city that's home to some of the oldest churches in the world. You'll see the Hanging Church, the Church of St. George, and the Ben Ezra Synagogue. Your guide will tell you the stories behind these historic sites, including how they survived centuries of upheaval in Egypt. Finally, you'll head back to Hurghada, where your tour will end with a drop-off at your hotel
